Cobirds Unite

Cobirds

Having crafted records for Sub Pop, Sony, and Frontier since 1982, the shy, reclusive Pacific Northwesterner Rusty Willoughby is well loved and cult-followed for his trio of rock/pop bands Pure Joy, Flop and Llama. For his album of lo-electricity duet recordings on Local 638 Records, Willoughby set out to channel his folk influences.

Notable musicians from Seattle to Denmark took part of the beautifully creative studio sessions. Willoughby is rounded out by a brilliant cast of musicians that includes Johnny Sangster (Tripwires), Barb Hunter (Afghan Whigs), Maggie Bjorklund (Mark Lanegan), and Rachel Flotard (Visqueen). Cobirds Unite has become the name of the band when these musicians play out together. The band has as been snapped up to support the likes of Black Francis, Chrissie Hynde and Bob Mould. They are expecting album number two in 2012.
