DANCE BELT celebrates iconic pop-culture dance phenomenon through tribute performances, dance education and participatory workshops. Embracing an American art of appropriation, this electric trio bridge and blur music video, social dance, cabaret performance, YouTube culture and gender. The currency is choreography. The aesthetic is now. The brand is universal. DANCE BELT: A Pop-Culture Movement. DANCE BELT's repertoire of classes includes Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and more! DANCE BELT is available to teach and/or perform at your private event, corporate party, club, or school. (Yes, we teach private lessons too!) Dance Belt teaches ongoing classes in Seattle at Century Ballroom (www.CenturyBallroom.com) Dance Belt has performed at various venues throughout Seattle including Key Arena, The Triple Door, ACT Theatre, On the Boards, The Showbox, Columbia City Theater and Century Ballroom. Dance Belt was voted “Seattle’s Sexiest Dance Troupe” by The Stranger, “Seattle’s Best Dance Class” by Seattle Magazine, “Best Way to Unleash Your Inner Diva” by Seattle Weekly, and has been featured on Evening Magazine TV (King 5) and Q13 Fox News. Troupe members have extensive and varied professional experience that includes performing for Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Carson Kreseley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) and The B-52’s, being crowned “Miss Viva Las Vegas,” being featured in the film “A Wink & A Smile,” performing at The White House for President Clinton, and dancing in the opening credits of True Blood (HBO), and modeling couture fashion. They are accomplished teachers, having worked with students at Cornish College of The Arts, American University, Rutgers University, New York University, Velocity Dance Center, and BurlyCon. Individually they have received funding from 4Culture, Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Artist Trust, and The Bossak Heilbron Charitable Grant Foundation.
