Daydream Vacation

After a performance together at this year's Sasquatch Festival, Dave Einmo, mastermind behind Head Like A Kite and Asya of the band Smoosh are pleased to announce their new group Daydream Vacation. Combining the leaders of Seattle’s most exciting genre-bending-electro-party unit and indie-dream-pop band, Daydream Vacation will be entering the studio to record their debut album in August.

Dave Einmo and Asya have known each other for several years. Einmo released the 1st Smoosh album on his small record label, Pattern 25, before Smoosh moved over to Barsuk (when Asya was only 14). Asya has appeared on tracks from multiple HLAK releases, and made rare live appearances. 

As Dave and Asya discussed collaborating for a new HLAK single the idea came up that they should create a new band, with Dave as the mad-scientist producer and multi-instumentalist and Asya as the lead vocalist. They took the band name Daydream Vacation from the title of one of the first songs they collaborated on together.

Combined, their projects (Head Like a Kite and Smoosh) have received praise from Rolling Stone, MTV, LA Times, London Times, Pitchfork, Spin, Magnet and many more. They have appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, MTV, and toured with and opened for Death Cab for Cutie, TV On the Radio, Pearl Jam, Neon Trees, Dresden Dolls, The Eels, Tokyo Police Club, Cat Power, Sufjan Stevens, Jimmy Eat World, among others.
