Douglas Ridings

Douglas Ridings is an international performer of butoh, Odissi and experimental theater, a singer, and a teacher of Hatha Yoga.  He approaches these various disciplines as an integrated art of the body. Like Bharata, legendary author of the ancient Indian treatise on stagecraft the Natya Shastra, he views performance as a kind of Yogic Sadhana with the ultimate goal being spiritual liberation for both performers and audience.  He has performed extensively in the US as well as at the Donau Festival in Krems, Austria, the Kharavela Festival in Bhubaneswar, India and the Teatro Pradillo in Madrid Spain.  He has performed with PAN, Katsura Kan, dappin’ butoh, Implied Violence, Urvasi, Rob Kitsos and locust.
