Kelly O

Kelly O—photographer, writer, and Drunk of the Week columnist for The Stranger Newsweekly—grew up on a 20-acre farm in Northern Michigan where her mother taught her how to find the beauty in ugly things.

After a short love affair with downtown Detroit, she fled the Midwest and landed in Seattle in 1998. Kelly’s photography has appeared Spin, The FADER, URB, Mojo Magazine, and two solo gallery shows—100 BALLS at Sweatshop Inc., and BOYS at Ghost Gallery. She's interviewed Hugh Hefner on the telephone, seen the band Slayer 19 times, attended three AVN porn conventions, and one Gathering of the Juggalos. She's a firm believer in being in the worst place at the best time.
