Rainbow Fletcher

Rainbow is the Dance Director, Choreographer, and a founding member of the Can Can Castaways. The Castaways are the original in house performance group for the Can Can Cabaret. Rainbow is also the co-artistic director, alongside Ezra Dickinson, of The Offshore Project. Rainbow started dancing when she was three years old and never stopped. Along with dance she received her Black Belt Certification in Taekwondo before heading to college where she earned her B.F.A. in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2004. Directly after graduating Rainbow danced with Spectrum Dance Theater, under the artistic direction of Donald Byrd. She attended the Northwest Professional Dance Project in 2004 and 2005. While attending NWPDP she performed in works by Alonzo King, Moses Pendelton of MOMIX, Davis Robinson, and Ronen Koresh of Koresh Dance Company. Her professional career spans as a choreographer and performer alike, beginning with choreographing "Karyotype 46/XY" for The Offshore Project in 2006 as a part of NWNW Festival at On The Boards, and choreographing and performing with The Offshore Project in the premiere of "The Buffoon" in NWNW Festival at On The Boards in 2010. The Offshore Project was a finalist in The A.W.A.R.D. Show! for their piece, "The Buffoon", at On The Boards, 2011. Throughout the past few years Rainbow has been commissioned to create choreography for a wide variety of companies and events. This past summer she performed in her own work for the Castaways in "Show Pony Royale" at Bumbershoot, headlined in both the 2009 and 2010 Seattle International Cabaret Festival, debuted an all new full length show, "This Is Halloween", at The Triple Door in 2010, and opened for Amy O/tinyrage in "The Lowdown" at The Moore Theater, 2011.  In addition to her ongoing work, she was honored to premiere her latest work, "Refined Slang", which was created and set on the dance department students in Cornish Dance Theater, 2011. Rainbow was pleased to be mentioned on the Theater Shortlist for the Stranger's Genius Awards, 2010.  Over the past five years, Rainbow has directed, choreographed, and performed in over a dozen full length shows with the Castaways, and actively performs in an average of five shows a week at Can Can Cabaret.
