Yuni In Taxco
Formed in the fall of 2009 while on holiday in the Mexican beach town of Sayulita, Yuni In Taxco has been turning heads in Seattle with their eclectic blend of tropical post punk and psychedelia. Their debut EP, released by Portuguese label Cakes & Tapes, was an instant hit with the DJ's at KEXP who proclaimed they have "..the right balance of Beach Boys-esque reverb and harmonies along with playful Caribbean rhythms that seem to herald sunnier times ahead."
Yuni in Taxco's debut full length, Sanpaku, was released on February 18th, 2011 and quickly climbed the charts at KEXP and a number of college radio stations in the US. Their rising popularity was the catalyst in the band being invited to play virtually every major Seattle music festival this past year: KEXP Mural Amphitheater Series (2010), Noise for the Needy (2011), KEXP Hood to Hood Broadcast and Showcase (2011), NW Folklife Festival (2011), the Capitol Hill Block Party (2011), Bumbershoot (2011) and the City Arts Festival (2011). The band is nearly finished with their followup full-length and expect to have it out by the end of the summer, 2011.
