CULTURE CLUB: VISUAL ART CURATED BY FREE SHEEP FOUNDATION

City Arts Festival’s visual art program features three one night only exhibitions at Fred Wildlife Refuge, with a new opening event each day. Peering through the lenses of three diverse local curators, the exhibits will showcase a wide array of visual art genres and uncover how the contemporary visual art scene interacts with music and comes to life in our city and the festival setting.

Black Sheep Book Arts, the newly established publishing arm of Free Sheep Foundation is proud to partner with NYC-based Publicide for our first release "Headless Hunter."

In conjunction with the gallery show a catalogue/zine will be printed, editioned and numbered, with an introductory essay by dk pan/nko.

The edition of the zines will be 66, the first 13 of which will be sold for $66 (and have some extra fancy stuff), all proceeds going directly to participating artists. After the first 13 zines are sold, the rest will be available for free.

"The ultimate development of knowledge is questioning. We can't endlessly defer to answers.. to knowledge... and knowledge finally opens a void. At the summit of knowledge, knowledge stops. I yield, and everything's vertigo." - Georges Bataille, 'Guilty'

The visual art program for City Arts Festival is being conceived and curated by Sierra Stinson in collaboration with festival arts curator Sara Edwards.

A portion of the proceeds from bar sales go to benefit Shunpike.
