Lit Crawl Seattle
: Where Literature Hits the Streets

On Thursday, Oct. 18, Lit Crawl Seattle kicks off City Arts Fest with 17 FREE events throughout Capitol Hill with 60+ readers and performers

After party at Hugo House at 9pm

It’s a bar crawl, with literature! Welcome to Seattle’s most anticipated literary night of the year. Lit Crawl Seattle is a co-production of the Litquake Foundation and the City Arts Festival in partnership with APRIL. Inspired by the San Francisco literary festival Litquake’s long-running Lit Crawl, Lit Crawl Seattle will feature some of the northwest’s most groundbreaking and beloved writers including Garth Stein, David Shields, Mark Baumgarten and Washington State Book Award winner, Peter Mountford. Poetry+Motion and Book-It Reperatory Theater will perform. Event hosts include editors from City Arts magazine, Seattle magazine, Tin House, Sasquatch Books, the Seattle7, University Books and APRIL.

Lit Crawl Seattle boasts an entire evening of readings in bookstores, bars, art galleries, restaurants, stores, cafés…even an ice cream parlor! From 5pm until late on Thursday, October 18, lit lovers will roam Seattle from its downtown core through First Hill and Capitol Hill as part of City Arts Fest’s “Topographies” arts programming. In all, 17 free literary performances by more than 60 writers, actors, dancers and musicians will take place during this evening-long romp through the city.

We kick off the night with a happy hour hosted by Leah Baltus, editor in chief of City Arts Magazine, followed by three, hour-long "phases" starting at one end of Capitol Hill and progressing toward an after party at Hugo House.
