Sonicbids Bands: Still a chance to play the fest
Heineken City Arts Fest is happy to partner with Sonicbids and offer one band from their roster a shot to play the festival. We will review every application, and on August 24th will announce the winning band (and the show they'll play with!). For now, if you have a profile on Sonicbids and want to apply to play, go for it
RIDE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION to and from the fest
We humbly suggest that the smart (and responsible) way to do-the-fest is to use public transit. Light rail, bus, train or a combo – it’s insanely easy to get from show to show and home again.
HAWAII VACATION CONTEST. You're automatically entered to win when you buy a wristband. Thanks Alaska Airlines!
Ok so this is amazing. Seriously.
Every time you buy a wristband you're entered to win a vacation for two to Hawaii courtesy of our friends at Alaska Airlines. Plus keep an eye out for more ways to up your odds throughout the months ahead and during the festival itself. Pretty damn sweet. Also worth noting, they have great promos at their Facebook page so we humbly suggest you Like them over there. Plus it's a great way for you to let them know you appreciate the support of the festival. Thanks and more thanks.
HOTEL MAX OUT-OF-TOWN DEAL. They will hook you up!
We're excited to announce that our partner Hotel Max will offer anyone attending Heineken City Arts Fest a great discount on rooms during the fest. You can stay in the heart of downtown, within walking distance to almost every venue, for $125! Plus free WIFI! Plus 50% off valet (if you're into that sort of thing). People, you can't beat that with a stick!
Here's the skinny on booking a room:
Call 1-866-833-6299 and ask for the City Arts Festival Attendee Rate OR you can use this LINK and do it all online.
The deadline to make reservations for attendees is Wednesday, October 12.
SINGLE TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW See one show - or see them all
If you prefer, you can opt to see only certain shows at the fest instead of buying the all-access wristband. Add the shows you want to see to your schedule and compare the costs of buying a few tickets against the cost of a wristband by hitting Purchase Your Schedule.
Check out the Schedule Page for links to individual show tickets.
THE TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE OPINION ART CONTEST: Get out and vote!

Starting today and running through September 22nd, galleries all over Seattle are participating in the Heineken City Arts Fest Totally Subjective Opinion Art Contest presented by Verizon. One local artist is going to win $1000, courtesy of Verizon.
Here's how it works. Head to a gallery or business that displays local art and vote for a piece you like by either emailing the name of the gallery and the name of the piece to award@cityartsfest.com, or look for ou posters (see above) that have a QR code on them. The code will take you to a handy-dandy submission page. Vote as many times as you'd like from as many galleries as you'd like (try to keep it to one piece per location, please). On September 22nd, we'll tally the votes and three artists pieces will be displayed for 3 week in October at the downtown Verizon store. The piece/artist that garners the most votes there (using a pretty darn cool tablet to vote) is going to receive $1000.
There's a ton of great art out there, and City and Verizon think it's important to support it.

Plus if you haven't been to our Quarterly Art Walk Awards here's the lowdown on another program we have to help fund the arts and get out party on....
The Art Walk Awards Fall Party is September 29 at Fred Wildlife Refuge.
About the Art Walk Awards: In 2011, four winners will each receive $1,000 and a profile of their artwork in City Arts magazine. Together with our 2011 partners, the Art Walk Consortium, businesses and galleries that participate in neighborhood art walks can nominate a favorite piece of art for each month. Each spring, summer, winter and fall, we narrow dozens of submissions down to six finalists, and then throw a party in their honor (with free beers, music courtesy of Decibel Festival and more). Anyone attending the event gets to vote for the winner and we'll hand out the award that night.
There are neighborhood art walks nearly every week in Seattle! Find out where and when at SeattleArtWalks.org

Wristbands made easy.
We've made a lot of great improvements on the wristband experience this year. First, the wristband now is good for all shows, every day. We've set aside more room for wristbands at all venues, so there should be very little problem getting into the shows (even the big ones). There are dedicated entry lines for WB holders and VIPs walk right to the front. It's one wristband for the three days, so you don't have to worry about wearing the right color/day etc. Every neighborhood participating in the fest, and all mainstage venues will be able to redeem your ticket for the wristband. Super easy and convenient and definitely where the smart money goes. Get one HERE.
Picking up your Ryan Adams ticket: YOU MAY REDEEM YOUR HARD TICKET BEGINNING AT 6PM AT BENAROYA HALL TOMORROW. We're sorry for any confusion.
