Showbox at the Market
Presenting more than two hundred concerts each year, the Showbox at the Market is one of Seattle’s most significant contributors to the live music scene. It has brought music lovers an eclectic array of performances since 1939 from artists like the Ramones, Duke Ellington, Pearl Jam, the Police, Blondie, Muddy Waters, Al Jolson, Mae West, Jimmy Durante and the Dead Kennedys. In more recent years, it has hosted Snoop Dogg, Dave Matthews Band, Kanye West, Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie, PJ Harvey, Robin Williams, Public Enemy and many more. Visitors to the Showbox drink and dine in the intimate Green Room lounge, which was once occupied by a Kerns Music Shop, and has seen its own share of important performances from music icons like Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan and Nat King Cole, to name a few. After many decades, Showbox at the Market has remained a unique local treasure at the core of Seattle's tourism hub.
Fun Fact: Before becoming a prime spot for the best rock 'n' roll, the Showbox was known as a comedy club.
